i don't want to be comfortable. but the truth is, i am. i am so comfortable. i have avoided conflict my entire life. much less, suffering. i am a pretty good representation of the definition of the word, "peacemaker." i'll take the verses that say, "live in harmony with one another [romans 12:16]," and completely ignore the ones that call me to suffer.
i just listened to a message by francis chan called, "is suffering optional?" francis goes through the ENTIRE new testament, with a verse from each book speaking on how we're called to suffer. conviction.

| ever have those times? those times where you remember how you used to be? who you used to be around? the things that were important to you? the people who were important to you?
yeah, then you wonder how you got where you are now. what happened to that? what happened to them? why don't i care about that anymore?
THEN you're reminded of the truth of sanctification. i'm reminded tonight of how the LORD has begun a good work in me. a good work that He has promised to carry out to completion. so these changes, these differences in who i was, and who i am, they're part of His sovereign plan. HE is the change in me.
i'm thankful.

she may make a lot of decisions i don't agree with. a lot.
but that's truth. that takes a lot, to stand in front of millions, on live television, world-wide, and say the exact opposite of what you're supposed to. simply because it's what you believe.

i believe that's something i certainly struggle with. it's so easy for me to be passionate about the Lord, His work, what He is doing, yet so hard for me to study and have the head knowledge to back my zeal when challenged. it's been cool to see how the Lord has been giving me more of a passion for knowledge and wisdom in my faith.

proverbs 10:14 . . . wise men store up knowledge.
knowledge is a precious treasure.
proverbs 18:15 . . . the heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out.
mark 12:29-30 . . . love the Lord your God...with all your mind.
